TOWN AND COUNTRY

Newlands is set in rolling farm land on the Lea Valley in Hertfordshire. The whole area is criss-crossed with footpaths and bridle paths, and the River Lea provides endless opportunities for wildlife, boating, and canal-side walks (with associated pubs!). We have a large stock of guidebooks and maps so you can plan your outing to fit into an hour, a morning or a whole day.

STATION

Our local station - Stanstead St Margarets is a 20 minute walk across the fields (or a 5 minute taxi ride) and trains will get you into central London in less than 40 minutes. Needless to say, the range of theatres, museums, shops, historic sites and general entertainment is huge. You can indulge in one of the world’s greatest capitals and still be back in rural Hertfordshire for a quiet evening stroll in the country.

We are lucky enough to be in a diner’s paradise!

In the village we have 3 pubs and 2 restaurants. In Hunsdon (2 miles away) we have the Fox and Hounds which is in the Good Food Guide. And if you want to go to Ware and Hertford you will be truly spoilt for choice: the range of restaurant and eateries is really quite staggering!
